Washington Traffic Accidents

Pedestrian-involved crashes in Washington continue to be a significant concern, especially in recent years. In 2018, over 100 pedestrians lost their lives in the state. By 2022, this number rose to over 130 pedestrian fatalities, a rise of approximately 32% While fatalities have surged, serious injuries have remained consistent, with over 400 reported in 2022. These numbers highlight the consistent dangers pedestrians face in the Evergreen State.

On top of injuries and fatalities, recent data reveals that Washington constantly ranks among the top 15 states for pedestrian fatalities. Roughly 75% of deadly pedestrian accidents occur in urban areas, where traffic speed and volume create dangerous conditions. Additionally, nighttime accidents account for most of these deaths, highlighting the dangers pedestrians face during low-visibility conditions.

Throughout the US, over 7,500 people lose their lives yearly in pedestrian accidents, making pedestrians the most at-risk travelers on the road. With no protection against fast-moving, heavy vehicles, they often sustain life-threatening or even fatal injuries when they are involved in traffic collisions.

Those affected by these devastating accidents often face difficult situations after their wrecks. Severe injuries suffered in pedestrian crashes often require expensive medical care, which can cause financial burdens for victims and their families. Victims may also face a loss of income as well as emotional and physical trauma.

In cases where negligence is to blame, filing a personal injury claim can help crash victims recover compensation for medical care, lost earnings, and more.

Getting hurt in a crash due to a reckless motorist can be totally devastating. You may feel as though your entire life has been upended and struggle to move forward. A personal injury claim can help you and yours obtain compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and other losses, thus providing some measure of relief during an otherwise overwhelming time.
