Walla Walla, WA (May 10, 2025) – A tragic head-on collision on State Route 124 claimed the life of a Burbank woman late Saturday morning, May 10, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The crash took place at approximately 11:52 a.m., about 10 miles northeast of Burbank. Authorities say a black Chevrolet Traverse, driven by 50-year-old Amanda L. Wolf, was involved in a head-on crash with an oncoming white Freightliner Cascadia. Wolf was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Freightliner’s driver, 34-year-old Bachitar Singh of Santa Clara, California, sustained injuries but declined medical transport. The cause of the crash remains under local law enforcement investigation.
We want to offer our sincere condolences to the deceased victim’s family.
Devastating car accidents continue to claim lives across the United States, and Walla Walla is no exception. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 40,000 people died in traffic crashes nationwide in 2022—many of which were entirely preventable.
Risky behaviors like drunk driving, distracted driving, speeding, and driver fatigue are often at the root of these tragedies. In fact, impaired driving alone accounts for nearly one-third of all traffic-related deaths each year. Choosing to stay focused and sober while driving isn’t just a personal responsibility—it’s a lifesaving decision.
In 2023, Washington State saw a sharp uptick in fatal crashes, with over 800 lives lost—a 10% increase from the previous year. Driver negligence remains a leading cause, contributing to a staggering majority of these incidents. Drunk driving, in particular, remains a persistent threat, taking nearly 13,000 lives nationwide in a single year—an average of one fatality every 39 minutes.
If someone you love has recently lost their life due to another driver's reckless or negligent behavior, you may have legal grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim.
