Burien, WA (February 23, 2025) - A suspected DUI collision happened in Burien late Saturday night, February 22. Information provided by the Washington State Patrol confirmed that one person lost their life and another suffered injuries in the accident. The wreck happened at approximately 11:25 p.m. Saturday north of South 128th Street on State Route 509. One vehicle rear-ended another at speeds that exceeded the posted speed limit, causing the rear-ended vehicle to exit the road and hit a tree.
Reports from police show a 53-year-old Seattle woman lost her life in the collision. She was transported to Harborview Medical Center where she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of her vehicle, a man from Seattle, age 58, was unharmed, as well as an 18-year-old female passenger. The suspected impaired driver, a man from Seattle, age 26, was sent to the hospital with injuries. He now faces several charges including DUI, eluding police, and others. Two teenage passengers inside his vehicle sustained no injuries in the crash. Police in Burien continue to investigate the details of the accident.
