Camas, WA - Fatal Accident on SR-14 near Exit 14

Camas, WA (May 27, 2025) – A tragic collision on State Route 14 late Monday night, May 26, has left one young man dead and two others seriously injured. Authorities say the crash, which happened just before 11 p.m. near Exit 14, was caused by a wrong-way driver believed to be under the influence.

According to the Washington State Patrol, 23-year-old Erik M. Moya of Vancouver was driving a Mercedes when he slammed head-on into another vehicle. The impact killed 18-year-old Michael C. O’Brien of Portland and left two other Portland teens—a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man—hospitalized with serious injuries.

Investigators are investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. Moya has been arrested and is currently being held in the Clark County Jail. He faces charges including vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault.

The crash prompted a full closure of SR-14 for several hours overnight as crews worked to investigate and clear the scene. The highway reopened early Tuesday morning. No further updates have been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.

We want to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim. We also hope for the full recovery of any other injured victims.
