Kent, WA - Pedestrian Loses Life in Crash on Pacific Hwy South

Kent, WA (May 22, 2025) — Kent police investigated a fatal crash that occurred early Thursday morning. The incident took place around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Pacific Highway South and South 240th Street in Kent.

Authorities reported that a 39-year-old man was crossing Pacific Highway South when he was struck by a silver SUV. Despite medics’ efforts to save him, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Witnesses informed officers that the SUV driver fled the scene. However, Des Moines police later located the vehicle near 20th Avenue South. The SUV had visible front-end damage, and inside were the driver along three passengers.

The passengers, aged 26, 30, and 35, all from Federal Way, cooperated with the investigation. The driver, a 32-year-old man from Seattle, was arrested and booked on suspicion of vehicular homicide.

The investigation into the events leading up to the collision remained ongoing.
