Washington Car Accidents

Lakewood, WA - Fatal Wrong-Way Accident on I-5 Takes One LifeCar accidents happen constantly in the United States and throughout the state of Washington. Every year, the US sees over 6 million traffic accidents that cause approximately 3 million people to sustain injuries. Sadly, more than 40,000 people lose their lives in these accidents every year. There are countless types of auto accidents; however, some of the most common include rear-end crashes, side-impact collisions, and solo-vehicle wrecks. Wrong-way crashes are less common, happening approximately 500 times per year. Though rare, these types of collisions often end in devastating injuries or loss of life. Between 2010 and 2018, nearly 3,000 wrong-way crashes ended in death for at least one involved individual.

Unfortunately, despite the type of accident, most are caused by driver negligence. The NHTSA reports that over 92% of reported auto accidents are caused by negligent driving. At this time, driver intoxication is behind approximately 28% of all fatal traffic accidents in the United States.
