Lewis Co., WA - Pedestrian Hurt in Accident on I-5 near Exit 59

Lewis County, WA (June 27, 2025) — A pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision that brought northbound traffic on Interstate 5 to a standstill near Exit 59 by the Cowlitz River on Thursday morning. The crash prompted an emergency Life Flight response and caused significant delays for motorists in the area.

The incident occurred on June 26, near milepost 59, where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle under still-unclear circumstances. Emergency crews rushed to the scene and, given the severity of the injuries, quickly called for an air ambulance. A Life Flight helicopter arrived and landed near the crash site around 9:42 a.m.

In order to assist the victim and allow for a safe landing zone, authorities completely shut down the northbound lanes of I-5. Drivers were advised to steer clear of the area and take alternate routes as traffic piled up.

At this time, no information has been released regarding the pedestrian’s identity or current condition. Investigators from the Washington State Patrol and other agencies remain on-site, working to determine what led to the collision and manage the ongoing traffic diversion.

We send our sincere hopes for healing and recovery to the individual who was injured.
