Responders were sent to the scene on Interstate 5 after a driver lost control and collided with a cable barrier before coming to rest in the second lane of the interstate. An 18-year-old passenger inside his vehicle was taken to Skagit Valley Hospital with injuries. The road was closed for approximately three hours while responders worked to clear the scene. Washington Car Accidents

Mt Vernon, WA - Three-Car Accident Takes One Life, Injures Another on I-5In the past ten years, car wrecks have become a serious problem in the United States. On average, over 6 million wrecks are reported annually that injure around 3 million people and take the lives of around 40,000. Regrettably, most of these accidents are caused by driver negligence.

Some of the most common forms of negligent driving seen on American roadways today include speeding, fatigue, intoxication, and distraction. For example, over 400,000 annual accidents happen because of driver distraction. Most often, drivers are distracted by their smartphones. Looking down at your phone for five seconds while traveling at 55 miles per hour is similar to driving the length of a football field with your eyes closed.

Being hurt in a car accident caused by negligence can be extremely stressful and overwhelming. You may end up stuck in the hospital with painful and even incapacitating injuries. Additionally, the cost of treatment required for most car accident injuries can range in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. The average American does not have this kind of money to spend on sudden medical bills.
