Port Angeles, WA (March 9, 2025) - A three-car crash happened in Port Angeles on State Route 112 near Dan Kelly Road on Friday morning, March 7, that ended in injuries. Reports from authorities show the incident occurred on State Route 112 near Dan Kelly Road and injured four individuals.
Sources say the wreck happened at approximately 11:37 a.m. when a white Toyota pickup operated by Branden Sofie, 19, of Port angeles, struck a red Chevrolet Equinox attempting to turn left onto Elwha River Road for reasons still being looked into by law enforcement authorities. The force of the crash pushed the Chevrolet into the westbound lane where hit was hit by a Subaru Forester headed in the opposite direction.
Police informed that the crash fully blocked the road for an extended period on Friday morning. It was most likely caused by excessive speed for the current road conditions. Four people were hurt in the wreck, including Tammy Akin, 52, who was driving the Chevrolet, along with two of her passengers, Harmony Thomasson, 6, and Gerard Ward, 29. Ward was flown to Harborview Medical Center while the others were taken by ambulance to Olympic Medical Center for treatment. The Subaru’s driver, Kelly McGhee, 35, was also transported to the hospital. Sofie and a 17-year-old passenger did not sustain any injuries in the accident.
Our thoughts are with those involved in this car crash. We hope for the full and swift recovery of the injured victims.
Auto accidents occur in the US and across the state of Washington all the time. More than 17,000 traffic collisions occur daily in the US that injure around 7,500 people and take the lives of over 100. Sadly, the majority of these wrecks are caused by negligent driving. In Washington, the story remains the same, with driver distraction and intoxication being the main contributors to the majority of auto accidents. Each year, tens of thousands of people are hurt and hundreds more lose their lives in negligently caused crashes in the Evergreen State.
In one recent year, more than 11,000 people lost their lives in collisions caused by drivers who were speeding, while over 3,000 were killed in distracted driving crashes. Being hurt in a crash caused by a negligent driver is never easy, and can send you to the hospital with painful injuries.
