Seattle, WA (April 20, 2025) – A violent hit-and-run incident shook Seattle’s Columbia City neighborhood on the evening of April 18, when a red motorcycle slammed into two pedestrians in a crosswalk.
The collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Alaska Street. According to officials with the Seattle Police Department, the motorcyclist was headed southbound when they struck a 57-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man crossing the street. The force of the impact left the woman with a serious head injury. She was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The man was also hospitalized, but his condition was reported to be stable.
Seattle Fire crews arrived quickly and transported both victims for further medical care. Police say the motorcyclist fled on foot before officers could arrive and remains at large as of Friday night. Authorities described the vehicle as a red motorcycle, but have not released further identifying information.
The intersection was closed off as police began their investigation into what caused the motorcyclist to strike the pedestrians and flee. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses is being reviewed. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has details about the suspect’s identity is urged to call 911.
