Seattle, WA (June 22, 2025) — A multi-car collision caused significant traffic delays and left several people injured Saturday morning on southbound Interstate 5 in South Seattle.
The crash, which involved four vehicles, occurred near the Spokane Street exit on June 21. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, where the collision blocked the HOV lane and three left lanes, bringing traffic to a near standstill for over a mile.
Injuries were reported, though the extent and number of those hurt have not been officially confirmed. Medics were seen treating individuals at the scene, and at least one person was transported for further medical care.
After approximately 45 minutes, crews began reopening lanes as they cleared debris and moved vehicles to the shoulder. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by local authorities.
We hope the wounded individuals recover swiftly.
Being injured in a car accident can change your life in an instant. Across Washington State, thousands of people every year find themselves facing painful injuries, mounting medical bills, and unexpected time away from work—all because of a crash they didn’t cause.
In 2023 alone, Washington reported tens of thousands of motor vehicle collisions, many of which resulted in serious injuries. Highways like I-5, I-90, and rural roads near communities such as Mattawa and beyond see a steady flow of traffic—and unfortunately, a steady rate of preventable accidents.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, driver error is a factor in over 90% of crashes nationwide. In Washington, common causes of injury accidents include distracted driving, speeding, impaired driving, and drowsy driving. Just a momentary lapse in attention or judgment can result in lasting physical, emotional, and financial consequences for those involved.
For injury victims, the aftermath of a crash can be overwhelming. From ambulance rides and emergency care to rehabilitation and time missed from work, the financial impact often adds stress to an already difficult recovery process. And when an insurance company tries to downplay your claim or push a quick, low settlement, it can leave you feeling powerless.
