Seattle, WA (February 22, 2025) - Three pedestrians were transported to the hospital with serious injuries after they were struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk in Seattle’s University District on Friday afternoon, February 21. The Seattle Police Department reports that the driver fled the scene after the accident but officers were able to find them and arrest them shortly afterward.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., police in Seattle responded to the hit-and-run crash on 15th Avenue Northeast between Northeast 45th Street and Northeast 47th Street. Several witnesses reported that the victims were in the crosswalk when they were struck by a speeding vehicle that ran a red light. The vehicle was found a short time later, A Kia Soul, with a cracked windshield and significant front-end damage. A suspect was also captured attempting to evade police on foot.
The three injured victims were identified as a 25-year-old male in critical condition, a 21-year-old man in satisfactory condition, and a 20-year-old woman in critical condition. Their names have not been reported at this time. Police in Seattle continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the wreck.
