Tacoma, WA (May 28, 2025) – At least one person was injured in a collision that occurred Tuesday evening on State Route 7 southbound near milepost 46.47, just north of 8th Avenue East in Tacoma.
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the crash happened shortly before 9 p.m. and temporarily disrupted traffic as emergency crews responded to the scene. The extent and number of injuries have not yet been confirmed, but authorities report that at least one individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. All lanes were cleared later in the evening, and traffic has since resumed normal flow.
Motorists are reminded to drive with caution, especially during evening hours when visibility is lower.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available. We hope for a full recovery for those injured.
Auto accidents remain one of the leading causes of serious injury and death across the country. In 2022, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported over 40,000 fatalities in vehicle-related crashes nationwide. Many of these tragic incidents were the result of reckless or negligent behaviors, including impaired driving, distraction, speeding, and failure to wear seatbelts. Impaired driving alone contributes to nearly 30% of all fatal crashes each year.
Here in Washington State, the danger is rising. In 2023, more than 800 people lost their lives on Washington roads—a 10% increase over the previous year. Tacoma, as one of the state’s busiest urban centers, sees its share of serious collisions on highways like I-5, SR 7, and local arterial streets. Negligence is a factor in over 94% of crashes, according to national data, and alcohol-related accidents continue to claim thousands of lives annually.

When another driver's careless actions are to blame, you may have the right to seek compensation for your injuries, medical costs, lost wages, and other damages.
