Tacoma, WA - Car Accident Ends in Injuries on I-15 near 56th St

Tacoma, WA (June 12, 2025) — A multi-vehicle collision on northbound Interstate 5 near South 56th Street led to significant traffic disruptions and reported injuries on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the crash occurred at milepost 130.69 just before 11:50 a.m. Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene to assist injured individuals and manage the traffic situation.

Several occupants involved in the crash sustained injuries, though the extent of those injuries has not yet been released. Paramedics provided on-site treatment, and at least one person was reportedly transported to a nearby hospital for further care.

Multiple lanes were impacted, leading to heavy congestion throughout the early afternoon. As of 2:50 p.m., the roadway remained partially blocked, with no estimated time for full reopening.
