Tukwila, WA - High-Speed Crash with Injuries on I-5

Tukwila, WA (June 29, 2025) – A high-speed collision triggered by a 20-year-old Algona man led to a major multi-vehicle pileup on northbound Interstate 5 on June 28, backing up traffic near Tukwila for nearly five hours, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

The chain-reaction crash began around 9:50 p.m. when the speeding driver collided with a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old from Tacoma. The initial impact set off a larger crash involving a total of eight vehicles—five cars and three motorcycles—along a notoriously busy stretch of I-5 where drivers must choose between continuing north, exiting toward Sea-Tac Airport, or merging onto I-405.

Six individuals were injured in the incident. Four were treated at the scene, while two others required hospitalization. Among them, a 68-year-old motorcyclist from Kent was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with injuries. The driver from Algona was also injured and taken to Valley Medical Center in Renton. He reportedly faces a charge of “disregard for the safety of others,” according to troopers.

Two individuals from Pierce County were involved in the crash but fortunately avoided serious harm. Others impacted by the wreck included residents from Redmond, Des Moines, Lake Tapps, Ravensdale, and Port Orchard.

We hope for the full and rapid recovery of the injured victims.

Washington Car Accidents

Tukwila, WA - High-Speed Crash with Injuries on I-5A serious car accident can turn your world upside down in an instant. Beyond the initial shock, you may be left dealing with painful injuries, mounting medical bills, time away from work, and the emotional aftermath of a traumatic event. Sadly, these hardships are all too common across Washington State, where tens of thousands of preventable crashes occur every year.

From Seattle to Tacoma and throughout the state, negligent driving remains one of the top causes of injury-related accidents.
