Franklin Co., WA - Two Fatal Crashes on SR-395 at Connell

Franklin Co., WA (June 2, 2025) — Two separate crashes that happened virtually around the same spot, on State Route 395 just north of Connell, turned deadly, claiming the life of a Spokane man and injuring several others.

The collisions occurred on May 31, during hazardous driving conditions, and involved six vehicles in a chain-reaction pileup. According to initial reports, drivers were traveling too fast for the weather or road conditions, contributing to the severity of the crash.

Andrew Thomas, 29, of Spokane, tragically lost his life at the scene. Emergency crews arrived quickly but were unable to revive him. Four other individuals sustained injuries of varying degrees and were transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

State patrol officers and local law enforcement shut down a portion of US 395 as they worked to clear the wreckage and begin a thorough investigation. The Washington State Patrol continues to examine the circumstances leading up to the incident, including weather conditions at the time and whether any citations or charges may be filed.

Authorities are urging drivers to exercise greater caution during periods of poor visibility or slippery roads.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased individual. We also wish a rapid recovery to the injured individuals.
