Tacoma, WA (June 8, 2025) – A traffic collision on northbound Interstate 5 caused major delays in Tacoma on June 8, after three right lanes were blocked near South Yakima Avenue.

According to officials, the crash occurred around 5:25 p.m. at milepost 133.23. Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene, and the affected lanes remain closed as of 8:30 p.m. while authorities manage the situation and work to clear the wreckage.

Drivers traveling reportedly experienced significant congestion and are urged to seek alternate routes if possible. Paramedics worked to help injured victims and transport them to the hospital as necessary. 

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has not provided an estimated time for when the lanes will reopen. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
