Lynwood, WA — A 46-year-old motorcyclist was killed late Tuesday night after a collision with a Jeep in Lynnwood, authorities confirmed.
Deputies with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene just after 11:00 p.m. on July 1, in the 12300 block of Beverly Park Road. According to early findings from the Collision Investigation Unit, a Jeep was attempting to turn left out of a parking lot when it entered the path of an oncoming motorcycle.
The motorcycle struck the front driver’s side of the Jeep. Responding deputies arrived to find the rider unresponsive and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators believe speed may have been a contributing factor on the part of the motorcyclist, though the full circumstances remain under review. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the man’s identity, along with the official cause and manner of death, once next of kin are notified.
The investigation is ongoing.
We extend our sincere sympathies to the family of the deceased individual.
Traffic accidents remain a daily reality in Washington State, with hundreds of thousands reported each year. Among them, motorcycle crashes represent a small but especially dangerous portion. In 2023 alone, the state recorded more than 890 motorcycle-related collisions, with around 330 people suffering injuries—many of them life-altering.
Though motorcyclists make up only a fraction of vehicles on the road, they are involved in a disproportionately high number of fatal crashes. Nationwide, motorcycle accidents account for roughly 15% of all traffic fatalities. These alarming statistics reflect an upward trend in serious motorcycle wrecks across the Evergreen State.
A large share of these accidents stem from negligent driving. Failure to yield the right of way is one of the leading causes, often placing motorcyclists in vulnerable situations. Speeding, driving under the influence, and distracted driving also continue to contribute to devastating outcomes. Densely populated areas like Seattle and Tacoma experience higher crash rates, but rural highways pose risks of their own—especially due to higher speeds and reduced visibility.
If you or someone you love has been injured in a motorcycle accident caused by another driver’s carelessness, you may be entitled to financial compensation. From lost wages and steep medical bills to emotional suffering and long-term recovery costs, the toll can be significant.
