SeaTac, WA - Four-Car DUI Crash Injures Three on I-5 near S 188th St

SeaTac, WA (March 29, 2025) - A teenage driver was arrested on Saturday morning, March 29, on suspicion of vehicular assault and impairment following a four-car accident that caused three people to sustain injuries. Reports show the wreck occurred on Interstate 5 near South 188th Street, according to information provided by the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

The incident took place just before 3:00 a.m., closing interstate lanes and causing a significant first responder presence. Traffic was backed up for approximately two miles. WSP said the collision was believed to have been caused by an 18-year-old Renton resident who was arrested at the scene. The wreck occurred at approximately 2:49 a.m., when the suspected DUI driver hit another vehicle headed in the same direction. That vehicle then struck a metal road sign before being struck by a third vehicle in an adjacent lane. During the sequence, a fourth vehicle also collided with the second.

Three of the four involved drivers sustained injuries, with one being taken to Harborview Medical Center due to the extent of their injuries. Two others were evaluated by paramedics at the scene and released. Three vehicles were totaled in the accident, and the crash blocked several lanes, causing a five-hour, 40-minute closure in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5. Police in SeaTac continue to investigate.

We hope for the full and rapid recovery of the injured victims.
