Motorcycle accidents in Washington State continue to take a devastating toll on families each year. With thousands of motorcycle crashes reported annually, far too many end in tragedy. In recent years, Washington has seen a rise in fatal motorcycle collisions, where the consequences are not just injuries—but the heartbreaking loss of life.
Motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable road users. With less physical protection than drivers of enclosed vehicles, riders are far more likely to suffer severe or fatal injuries in the event of a crash. In fact, motorcyclists are nearly 28 times more likely to die in a traffic accident than those in passenger vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Many of these deadly accidents are caused by driver negligence—including failure to yield, distracted driving, speeding, and intoxication. When a car or truck driver makes a careless decision, the consequences for motorcyclists can be irreversible. The sudden, senseless loss of a loved one in a motorcycle accident can shatter a family’s world in an instant.
